4 stars for sound, 25 for performance,

So 5 is a good average I think.
I've often thought that if Klemperers sound were too well remastered it would lose a lot of its rugged charm, and EMI proved that in their last set of remasters. Here, however, the sound is far from perfect, which is perfect! Whilst I would never try to compare the sets of Klemperer to, say, Norrington or Gardiner, I find these more honestly musical accounts than any I've heard before or since. And it this price, it's a stupidly obvious buy!
