Nice guys, soulful music

Some of the nicest people to ever grace social networking are also really gifted song writers and producers. Soulful tunes with a 'feel good feeling'

Smarter than the average...

With this, his second release of original tunes, Scott Grimes steps forward with none of the posturing or showiness that so often clings to other crossover artists. 'Drive' stakes his claim as a talented singer-songwriter in his own right, clearly revelling in playing what he likes, how he likes.

Scott maintains a distinct sound and sense of melody throughout this compact collection - his offerings ranging from the catchy, intelligent guitar pop of 'Hide' to the more sombre piano accompanied musings on love lost in 'Back Into You' and 'What Love Is.' When he pushes his dynamic voice to the upper echelons of its range in songs like 'Waiting' this record soars triumphantly. Should you wish to truly appreciate the liberal smattering of accomplished harmonies Grimes executes throughout this record, you'll want to dust off your earphones. Believe me, it's worth it. A personal favourie, 'Soon I Will Be Found' evokes the best of rousing and anthemic 90s Power Pop (think Del amitri fronted by Matthew Sweet) and lyrically it provides one of the more hopeful moments amongst personal tales of regret and loss.

But, as Scott so astutley reminds us, when things get tough you can always retreat to the homely comforts of the Corner Pub. Count me in, Scott. I'm already primed for the sing-along. ;-)

More great songs from Grimes/Harris. Anyone with a love for quality pop music will enjoy this gem of an album. Scott Grimes may be better know for his acting roles, but his singing voice is a cut above the rest and a joy to listen to.
