Album Review

First album in nearly fifteen years from the Walthamstow boyband, once considered the only credible competition to Take That with their bad-boy image and rough-edged urban sound. Now, in a reversal of fortune, principal songwriter Tony Mortimer - once ousted in favour of former backing vocalist Brian Harvey - returns to the front of the group. At the same time, their music has changed almost beyond recognition, turning from pop-RnB into pop-rock complete with full live rock band instrumentation., Rovi

Possibly the worst album I've ever heard. This isn't even worthy of being played in a Matalan store. the lyrics are so cheesy and euw, you can tell the album has been released on a shoddy label because of the poor recording - sounds like it was made in someone's kitchen using the microphone off a webcam. Their image and look isn't that much better either. I wish I could give this 0 stars out of 5 but iTunes won't let me.

Brilliant! Great new sound

Led by songwriter Tony Mortimer, the group initially tried to emulate American rap and hip-hop, before settling down into a commercial fusion of new jack R&B, hip-hop beats, rap, and pop melodies. The stylish, accessible blend of dance music, plus the group's boyish good looks, made East 17 into a teen pop sensation. Occasionally, the band achieved some credibility...
