Days Are Gone

Days Are Gone

With striking breeziness, Days Are Gone delivers on the high expectations raised by the trio’s early EPs. “The Wire” is so immediately likable that it would throw the rest of an album by a lesser act off balance. However, the sisters follow it up with a run of equally slick and indelible pop songs—If I Could Change Your Mind,” “Honey & I,” “Don’t Save Me”. While much here sparkles with the gloss, hooks and playfulness of ’80s pop and rock, the spartan, percussive modern R&B of “My Song 5” reveals Haim as a band with the skill and confidence to keep pushing their sound in intriguing new directions.
