Well deserved success

I was at Lewis School Pengam with David Keith Jones. There were boys with musical training and a budding politican in Neil Kinnock. David sang in the junior choir but only later stood out as a self-taught jazz drummer with a gift for languages. Our paths diverged for university and I heard years later of his musical progress. This album confirms at the highest level David's musical ability and facility with German poetry.

Emerging Artist

This album stands comparison with the best. The singer also developed the accompaniment to produce an integrated performance. David is no Gerald Moore but his piano supplies accurate support, empathy and sensible dynamics. I have followed David's work since his first album in 2010. He has the classical voice, musicality and command of German poetry to tackle this work in all aspects from lyric to dramatic. The proof is firstly in the satisfying end result and lately in the high rankings which this album is beginning to enjoy. May this independent artist go from strength to strength.

Artist and Album Notes

David Keith Jones began as a chorister in Wales then became a band drummer. He started voice training at university in England and later led an opera group in St Albans. He was coached by Gerald Davies, former principal tenor at Sadlers Wells. David's operatic roles include Don Jose, Rodolfo, Alfredo and, in oratorio, Elgar's Gerontius. He also took leads in plays including Aykbourn's Gosforth. His You Tube channel passed a million views in 2011 and he has several albums. He first sang DichterLiebe with his friend Charlotte who had studied piano in Germany with Erna Hoehr-Schrader. David himself produced the accompaniment for this album - look out for his new matching album 'DichterLiebe - Klavier ohne Stimme' which should suit singers who practise or record alone.
