EDITORS’ NOTES

Like its GRAMMY®-winning predecessor—2013’s Same Trailer Different ParkPageant Material pokes at country clichés while embracing them at the same time. At heart, Musgraves is a traditionalist who trades in warm, '60s-style countrypolitan arrangements and songs that end with a snappy, comforting moral (“You can’t be everybody’s cup of tea”, goes a line on “Cup of Tea”). And though she occasionally takes potshots at the establishment (“Good Ol’ Boys Club”), Musgraves ultimately sounds like a searching storyteller less consumed with criticising others than empowering herself.
