Christmas still isn't Christmas without the Magic!

I was there – no honestly, I WAS! More than just a concert, the legendary Lindisfarne Christmas Parties became an annual event kicking off Christmas for thousands who, night after night piled into Newcastle City Hall – party hats & streamers waiting on every seat. Before the students from Newcastle University dispersed home to get their washing done, they would join the Geordie throng to sing their little hearts out to such classics as ‘Meet Me On The Corner’ ‘We Can Swing Together’ ‘Clear White Light’ & the perennial Tyneside anthem ‘Fog On The Tyne’. The whole wondrous experience is captured for ever on this album (unfortunately minus Ray Jackson’s incredible Phartonium & Spitfire impressions). Download now, close your eyes, join the party & feel the Magic in the Air!

I was there too!!!!

Having bought the original album I had forgotten just how much fun we used to have every year at the Lindisfarne occupation in Newcastle. Many a birthday treat was driving up the A1 to see the lads and leaving City Hall dripping wet through. After all these years I suddenly realised I didnt have a copy of the momentous nights on iTunes and was suprised to find both the albums for the price of one. Without hesitation I clicked and downloaded and drifted back 30 odd years. Lindisfarne were the original party band and no one since has come close to having as much fun. Many of todays bands could learn a thing or two listening to these live gigs. Download it turn it up and enjoy the miracle that was Lindisfarne. God bless Alan Hull.....sadly missed.

Magic on the Tyne

In the 70s and 80s on the nights leading up to Christmas Eve in Newcastle there was only one place to be, The City Hall. Lindisfarne would play their annual gigs to a crowd consisting of skin heads to grannies, all holding hands and, as one, singing the anthems that Tyneside knew to heart. This album brings the memories of Lindisfarnes finest moments to life and brings to life those Brown Ale enhanced gigs. If you want to hear music that was, and is loved by a great many people, brought back to life and to relive those classic Christmas gigs this is as close as it gets. The album contains such classics as Fog on theTyne, Warm Feeling, Clear White Light, Lady Eleanor, January Song and Meet Me On the Corner. A group that found fame but those nights in Newcastle remain legendary. Haway the lads!

Lindisfarne barely command more than a footnote in most rock reference books. During the early '70s, however, Lindisfarne were one of the hottest folk-based rock bands in England, with chart placements on two of their albums that rivaled Jethro Tull, and had them proclaimed one of the most important groups of the decade. With a sound that mixed plaintive folk-like melodies, earthy but well-sung harmonies, and acoustic and electric textures, the group seemed poised...
