Rock's "nearly men" Return

I had never heard of Vain until last year, when their 1989 debut "No Respect" was re-released. After hearing the said album, I had to know more and found "On The Line" readily available on iTunes, and what an album it is. "Running On Empty" is first to lay down the gauntlet that these boys have arrived to rock n' roll. It's full of cheeky rock swagger and unrelenting in it's assault. Other songs like the catchy, hook laden title track and "Slave" offer more of the same and don't fail to hit the mark. However one of the album's highlights is the ghostly brooding "Turn to Sand", with it's echoing ambient guitars and Davy Vain's haunting vocal, which literally sends a shiver down the spine. Like myself, many of you wouldn't have heard of Vain. However, if you do stumble across this album whilst searching for something a bit different, then this is an album that should nt be overlooked. This is a band who have perfected their craft for a period of years and like a fine wine, they are here to stimulate your musical taste buds and have you crying out for more. Enjoy.

Thank God they're back!!!

Let me keep this short & sweet - if Nirvana & grunge hadn't come along and turned the rock world on it's head, Vain would have been HUGE!!!! My favourite rock band of all time. Accept no substitutions
