iTunes Review

When Dusty was in Memphis, visiting from the UK to record an album with the city's hottest R&B musicians, she was too nervous to lay down vocals. What she overdubbed in New York remains revelatory: "Son of a Preacher Man" is confident, innocent and daring, and the vocals on "So Much Love" rise euphorically with the soulful strings. Those musicians were as good as advertised, easing into arrangements that entwine soft horns, careful guitar and bass that grooves just enough to make you sway.

What the....?

...must have been the response of the people that bought "Son of a Preacher Man" not realising that they were listening to a White Soul artist that could hold their own with the best of them....and she became the best of them with this classic album....with Atlantics Records finest taking care of business on the production and writing duties...all you have to consider is the quality of THAT voice ....and the fact makes your spine tingle and her backing vocalists work for their pay to keep up.

Blue eyed soul

This is Dusty at her best; tracks like "I don't want to hear it anymore" and "no easy way down" showcase her unique voice, this is blue eyed soul. Take a chance you will not be disappointed.

Top Ten ?

Are there better albums than this? Probably .. but I'd struggle to name more than 10. She soars.
