Best in a decade!

Wonderful album! Buddy miller works so well with RT. a new favourite of mine.

This album is ELECTRIC

I am a late comer to Richard Thompson. I liked his songs and the stories they told but apart from a few of the famous ones I never really took too much notice of him as a performer. This album has changed all that. Already my album of 2013. The song writing is sublime and the music is inspired and bang upto date. I love Salford Sunday, however the stand out track for me is Stony Ground (perhaps it is because I am of a certain age and have no teeth!!). There is a haunting simplicity to all of the music Stuck on aTreadmill will I think become one of the great political songs of the 21st century. My Enemy sent shivers down my spine, what an evocative piece of writing.
As others have said this is a master musician at the top of his game. I recomend you spend an extra £3 and get the Delux Version and if you can get and see him live. I have just come back from seeing him (on the Electric Tour) at the Barbican and he and his band rocked.
Buy this album you will not be disapointed.....StephenLion

RT at the top of his game - again

A stunning album full of Richard's eloquent and left-of-centre electric (and, at times, beautiful acoustic) guitar mastery, piercingly perceptive songwriting/lyrics and memorable melodies. Up with the best of his solo works, though everyone interested should also check out Rmour and Sigh, Mock Tudor, and the last one before this new offering, Dream Attic (amongst many others). Absolutely stunning music. Again.

For years, Richard Thompson resided in relative obscurity, while at the same time garnering vast critical praise for his magnificent guitar work and the dark wit and richness of his extraordinary songwriting. A founding member of the seminal British folk-rock group Fairport Convention, he remained with the band for five studio albums -- Fairport Convention (1968), What We Did on Our Holiday (released as Fairport Convention in the U.S.) (1968), Unhalfbricking (1969), Liege and Lief (1969), and Full...
