About Roosevelt

If the music of Roosevelt sounds like Future Islands signed to Kompakt, it is because sole member Marius Lauber ran through a bunch of teenage garage bands before submitting fully to the techno of Cologne. As a teenager, Lauber lived in the Cologne suburb of Viersen, where he cut his teeth strumming guitars and singing in indie bands. When he moved to the heart of the city, his roommates were Kompakt signees Coma, and after he got over his "it all sounds the same" attitude, Lauber became a dance music devotee. So much so, that within a few years he was resident DJ at Kompakt’s Total Confusion party alongside Superpitcher and Michael Mayer. In 2012, he introduced his techno-meets-indie pop project Roosevelt with the single "Sea," released by Greco-Roman, the label co-owned by Hot Chip's Joe Goddard. A year later, his "Elliot" single landed on Future Classic, then it was back to Greco-Roman for the 2015 single "Hold On." Roosevelt's self-titled album arrived in 2016 as a co-release from Greco-Roman and City Slang. The following year saw the release of the EP Remixed 2, which featured the talents of Joe Goddard, Andhim, Moscoman, Cleveland, Brennan Green, and Justus Kohncke. ~ David Jeffries
