best album so far this year!

with so much music out there lacking in any real meaning - Warchild could not have come a moment sooner - the enormity of what Emmanuel Jal has achieved in becoming a succesful musician in the west from his difficult child-soldier past is truly remakable and is an inspirational story. 'Warchild' is musically diverse and with amazing song-writing and production, not to mention Emmanuel's powerful lyrics and haunting delivery - it is my album of the year. buy it!

This is very powerful music which actually has meaning and a message. A skilled muician with the power to influence the world through the music industry. I hope that it inspires people to fight the exploitation of africa. Good on you Emmanuel. Fiona

One Word... Fantabulous!

Not only does Emmanuel Jal give powerful insights into the meaning of humanity, destiny and the western world in general, but he is a very talented musician and writer. 'Many Rivers to Cross' is absolutely gorgeous to listen to, as is 'Emma' (a tribute to Emma McClune, who rescued Emmanuel Jal from life as a child-soldier). As for the other songs, each has it's own uniqueness and are very different to alot of other hip-hop/rap songs released recently. '50 cent', 'Skirt too Short' and No Bling comment on recent gang culture, vanity, money and the pressures of record companies to sell-out and release a 'Gangsta' album. This is truly one of the best albums I have heard in a while, and from someone who has already bought 11 CD's this month (and it's the 12th), that is quite a compliment.
