Oh, sweet memories! This is AWESOME!

Michael Giacchino is just brilliant. Besides the fact that I love his ALIAS Scores and think that he did an awesome job reviving the MISSION IMPOSSIBLE franchise with an elaborate music for MI:3, this one is just brilliant and awesome hot stuff! Just listen into the first track "Star Trek": Humming violins, the bass parts of a harp and slight otherworldly sounds. Just like they were used by Alexander Courage, Sol Caplan and Jerry Goldsmith for the TV Series and the first movie. This first track already makes the listener acquainted to a new theme which all of a sudden sounds so familiar that a STAR TREK and soundtrack fan must fall for it immediately. Michael Giacchino must have done elaborate and detailed research before composing this music. He succeeds in delivering music which is based on classic film music and familiar STAR TREK tunes and harmonies. He uses a lot of music effects (humming violins and violas for example) like Jerry Goldsmith. This is a great music for a (hopefully) great film and an hommage to Jerry Goldsmith, Alexander Courage (both of whom worked together for long years) and other classic STAR TREK composers. Highly recommended - not only for STAR TREK fans!

Never used to be a Star Trek fan....

From an early age I was drawn into the phenomenon that was Star Wars. Whilst I was aware of Star Trek and the fact that my best friend was a Trekkie, my knowledge of Star Trek only included the fact that the ship was called Enterprise and a random dude called "Spock" was in it. It wasn't until I heard about the latest Star Trek film that I really began to become drawn into the Trek universe. I not only drooled over the awesome special effects that ILM helped to create, but also the equally epic soundtrack that accompanied it. Giacchino helps to create a wondrous sense of awe as the music blasts around the surround sound screen. He has managed to create a soundtrack that is not only reminiscent of Star Trek, but a soundtrack that is hugely emotional and is guaranteed to please Star Trek fans both old a new.

This is the amazing score from the ultimate movie ever. The last two songs are the ending outro to the movie and the song "labour of love" brings a tear to your eye. A brilliant album that any star trek fan or new star trek fan should buy!!
