Maybe the future

I remember seeing Tommy Reilly on the first show of last years Orange Unsigned Act and I was reeled in from then on in. Since easily winning the show, I have been eagerly awaiting this debut album, and it does not disappoint.
There is gentle vulnerability to his vocals and lyrics, and even though a band on most of the tracks here supports Tommy, you still get that sense of fragility and loneliness that comes across in his acoustic songs like Gimme A Call and his cover of Mr. Brightside (the b-side to Jackets).
This really is one of the stand out debut albums of the year, from the beautiful Jackets, the heart wrenching Having No-One to the more raucous I Don’t Like Coffee.
Hopefully this is just a taste of how good this talented guy will be in years to come. Maybe the future’s bright; maybe the future’s Tommy Reilly…

for god sake.

I loved tommy reilly from the moment i saw him on orange unsigned act last year and from then on i was hooked. However with his debut i was hoping for a bob dylan style acoustic album because he sounds so much better without a backing track, you can hear a subtle realism and vulnerable tone in his voice and lyrics. Before I thought he was going to be massive and have a huge cult following and now if he keeps allowing the label to make overproduced music like this, i worry if his real talent will be recognised.

This lad is gonna go far! amazing singer/songwriter! check out Paul Andreas if you like this music!!
