Nothing New Here.

Covering old ground, but maybe thats the point. Seriously well produced. Classy, understated, not so much in the way of keyboard brass, 'Puh Chang Chang' piano sounds, etc. Maybe this album needs releasing into the musical atmosphere, real instruments, soulful vocals, not a rap in sight. Anyone who listens to Jazz/Funk/Soul, etc will be fairly unimpressed by the familiar and obvious names in the track listing, but it has to be said, this is really good music. It's an album purchase for me.

Some great covers - of their own incredible work, and others'. Heartfelt and the closest you'll come to the brilliance of seeing them live. That's The Way Of The World is too beautiful for words.

Not helping the Jazz-Funk / Soul Genre

Yes, yes, yes. Very well produced, AND Played, AND sung etc... But what we need in the genre is new composition, new tracks, creativity, not new covers (rather lazy ones). They're not bad they just don't bring much Vs the originals. Roy Ayers' everybody loves the sunshine blew everybodys' mind when first heard. And so did Ronnie Laws' Always there (even the side effect cover was great since they added full lyrics on the track), But none of this here. And this is unfortunate; as indeed if we wanted this complex, arranged, composed, and therefore musically superior genre to die and make way for more girls aloud, bloc party, or james blunt by sounding old (like a broken record?), this would be exactly the way... :( Write, people, Write! Create! And if you don't have it in you, well sub-contract the talent who has.

Both were leaders of the late-'70s disco-funk group Light of the World, who scored several moderate British hits, including a cover of "I Shot the Sheriff." Just after the release of Light of the World's third LP (Check Us Out), Maunick and Williams shifted the lineup slightly and renamed the conglomeration Incognito. A...
