iTunes Review

Three men and a piano nail anthemic arena rock at their first attempt. Even without guitars, Keane’s politesse, emotion and epic choruses immediately place them in the same big-capacity ballpark as Coldplay and Snow Patrol, with “Bedshaped” and “Somewhere Only We Go” ready-made festival closers. Groove and forward-momentum give Keane songs their identity though and the dancefloor textures of “Unititled 1” and “Sunshine” suggest a band already investigating promising new paths.

Can't Stop listening to it!!!!!

At first i thought that a rock band with no guitars would not be worth listening to, but then someone played me Everybody's Changing. I fell in love. The beautiful lyrics and amazing vocals (by Tom Chaplin) make it a fantastic mix of melodic anthems and emotional ballads. The piano( Tim Rice Oxley) and drums (Richard Hughes) go together brilliantly. Even if you do not THINK you will like them, take my advice and buy the album, I BET YOU WILL!

It's all about the voice

I know that by now everyone has heard the killer hits "Somewhere Only We Know", "Eveybody's Changing", "This Is The Last Time" and the instant classic "Bedshaped", but, although they all are written with beautiful simplicity, it is Tom Chaplin's vocals that make this album stand out for me. I am not exaggerating when I say that, in my opinion, he has got the best voice around, reaching notes that only dogs can hear with glorious ease. And he can sing these sings live as well, so well, and they are some of the most difficult songs to sing. Can't wait for the follow up.

A Promising Debut

A very pleasant first outing from a promising 3 piece band. Although the likes of 'Somewhere Only We Know', 'Everybody's Changing' and 'Bedshaped' are often considered the album's forte I must also sing the praises of 'On A Day Like Today' - this is the best of the dozen and is highly underrated in my opinion, give this song some much deserved attention.

Keane's piano-driven pop/rock is created by vocalist Tom Chaplin, drummer Richard Hughes, and pianist Tim Rice-Oxley, three childhood friends from the small town of Battle in East Sussex, England. Formed in 1997, the group started out as a college-aged cover band. Guitarist Dominic Scott was also part of this early incarnation, having previously played cover songs with Hughes and Rice-Oxley in a band named the Lotus Eaters. Keane toured the East Sussex circuit for several years while internalizing...
