iTunes Review

An album of moody, moonlit arena rock from the Followill clan. WALLS revisits the anthemic heights of their 2008 breakthrough—Only By The Night—while also showcasing a side of the band that’s often been obscured by bluster. You can hear it best in the “No Surprises”-like shimmer of “Conversation Piece” and feel it in the dark imagery of “Over", a convincing, six-minute reflection on death and fame.

Please take this 'wind-swept stadium rock' behind the woodshed & put it down, for all our sakes.

Right. I was a huge Kings of Leon fan from 2003-2007. Went to see them 4 times in that period. Those first 3 albums they brought out were amazing and still are. Then something changed and the 4 albums they have released since then starting with OBTN through to this have been really disappointing.
There is no originality, no edge, no unusual lyrics that were on the first 3 albums, just bland, tired sounding tunes and lyrics.
I appreciate that bands change and evolve which they did in a good way from Y&YMH, ASH & BOTT which were all different in their own ways. The music has not evolved since then it has regressed and has continued to do so with each album since BOTT.
The majority of the fans who liked them at the start will not like this.
Sorry but it's just not very good. An honest opinion of a previously huge KOL fan.

Not straying too far from where they began as they introduce more indie anthems and subtler guitar riffs. The lyrical work is perhaps most on par with Aha Shake Heartbreak and their first EP. It’s calmer, smoother, with a clear focus on their country beginnings. The overall sound is very anthemic, lingering, and coupled with melodies that would befit film scores.

Initially embraced as "the Southern Strokes" for their resurrection and reinvention of Dixie-styled rock & roll, Kings of Leon steadily morphed into an experimental rock outfit during the 2000s. The Tennessee-bred quartet debuted in 2003 with the Holy Roller Novocaine EP, whose blend of raw, unpolished boogie rock was further explored on their debut full-length, Youth & Young Manhood. Such revivalist music was matched by a similarly revivalist appearance -- including long hair, mustaches, and tight-fitting...
