The one my dad wanted to throw out of the window

A truly original and seminal album of English psychedelia. The band always complained that Kit Lambert had ruined the 'Fire Symphony' which takes up all of Side 1, by drowning the stripped down sound of the organ-drums-vocals trio with orchestra and brass. This release gives us as close to this orginal mix with the mono version, highlighting Vincent Crane's jazzy/rock organ and Draken Theaker's (pre Carl Palmer) fluid drumming - but above all Brown's demonic, totally riveting voal delivery dreed from the cloying over-arrangement of the stereo version. A great British original - and although Brown went on to more diverse projects, this remains his high-spot. And yes, my dad did offer to buy the record off me (as an impressionable 17 year old) so that he could throw it out of the window. I declined - and anyone interested in discovering a unique voice of the 60's should do likewise.

'Fire' scared the hell out of me as a kid!

The hit single 'Fire' is an all-time rock classic but seeing Arthur Brown perform this on Top of the Pops at the tender of 4 yrs old scared the hell out of me!! What with his trademark flaming headgear, hideous makeup and the thunderous opening line 'I am the God of hell fire and I bring you...' still sends a chill down my spine. He scared me more than any horror movie ever did, probably thought he really was the devil or something but don't let my childhood fears detract you from downloading this great track! (Haven't listened to it as an album, stars are for the single 'Fire')

This is the kind of music that you hear in your head when you're dancing for no reason ^_^... or is that just me? I don't care! There doesn't seem to be 'Give him a flower' though =(. Can anyone tell me where I can get it? I would really appreciate it. =) x

One of the most electrifying one-shot artists of the '60s, British singer Arthur Brown briefly set the charts alight in 1968, as well as thrilling audiences with his theatrical performances, which saw him wearing helmets of fire and outlandish costumes. His debut album was surely one of the most left-field commercial successes of the late '60s, if not of rock history. In addition to topping the British charts (and reaching number two in the U.S.) with his brilliantly demonic single "Fire," the self-proclaimed...
