Ace tunes

You should have heard "Fluorescent Adolescent" by now; if you haven't, it's a really upbeat tune with some witty lyrics. Summer anthem perhaps? You never know... "The Bakery" is a tune that's been lingering around since the "Who the ****..." EP period, which has finally come around to release. A nice, slower one. If you only download one track from this single, definitely make it "Plastic Tramp". Really fast and exciting, and has an ace shouty bit in the middle. Not to be missed. "Too Much to Ask" seems to be the most controversial AM song among the fans, some love it, some really hate it. It's certainly different, so give it a listen if you're bored of the other stuff. All in all, it's always nice to get new Arctic Monkeys songs, so grab them all as soon as possible!

A Good EP would soon become too much to ask

The uber-catchy 'Flourescent Adolescent' is rightfully the second single from Favourite Worst Nightmare. In the Top Three of Monkeys Tunes in terms of lyrics, and it also has a nice zippy tune. Could have been about 30 seconds longer: it doesn't feel drawn-out enough. 9/10 The Bakery- A tune that's been around for a while: very jazzy, quite relaxing and also misleading. Obviously doesn't compare to the tune before it. 7/10 Plastic Tramp- While I'm not keen on these vocals at all, I rather like the pace and instrumentation on this. Another good B-Side choice. 8/10 (I didn't buy 'Too Much to Ask', because I felt that it wasn't worth it from the 30 second preview)

More great b sides

It seems like some of the real arctic monkey gems are tossed away as b sides, which is a shame- Tracks 3+ 4 on the Brianstorm EP were album worthy, and the same here. Still tho- great stuff!

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '00s, '10s

By distilling the sounds of Franz Ferdinand, the Clash, the Strokes, and the Libertines into a hybrid of swaggering indie rock and danceable neo-punk, Arctic Monkeys became one of the U.K.'s biggest bands of the new millennium. Their meteoric rise began in 2005, when the teenagers fielded offers from major labels and drew a sold-out crowd to the London Astoria, using little more than a self-released EP as bait. Several months later, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not became the fastest-selling...
