iTunes Editors' Notes

Kurt Cobain’s death signaled the end for Nirvana. No one expected their drummer, Dave Grohl, to leave his kit behind and front one of the most successful hard rock groups of the next decade. Yet that’s exactly what happened. Grohl’s pop sense has proven strong, drawing from the heavy but hummable roots of the Descendents and Hüsker Dü and taking them to modern rock heights. His strong sense of humour, evident in the band’s videos, pushes aside the dark, mournful tones of grunge for the evergreen pop hooks of “Everlong”, “My Hero”, “Learn to Fly” and “The Pretender”. Foo Fighters began as a solo project (“This Is a Call”, “Big Me”) with a self-titled debut album recorded at home with Grohl as its only member. Other members were signed up in order to pull off live shows and Grohl has never looked back. This retrospective includes two new cuts, the Tom Petty Americana of “Wheels” (Grohl played drums for Petty’s Heartbreakers) and the acoustic-to-electric anthem power of “Word Forward”, plus an acoustic version of “Everlong”.

Goes to show what a band they really are

The Greatest hits album shows a band for what they really are, and this shows the Grohl and his band have had a lot of highs. Theres a lot of good songs on her and although some fans wanted different songs, the songs that have been choosen are fine.
Theres a lot of great moments on this, and it shows the foos are the best still going strong

Foo Fighters Greatest Hits

Foo Fighters are an amazing band, and have produced incredible songs. This is a great album for any new Foo Fighter Fans, but for any one who already has all their album, just buy Wheels and Word Forward. They are the only new songs on the album, and are brilliant as always. This will be the last we will hear from the Foo fighters for a while as Dave Grohl has stated, after a few European shows they are having an hiatus. It is not it, so don't worry, they will be back.

From their first self-titled studio album comes Big Me and This Is a Call. Their second studio album and their best album, The Colour and the Shape, comes My Hero, Monkey Wrench and still their best song Everlong. From Their Is Nothing Left To Lose, their third album is Breakout and their best music video to date, Learn To Fly.

One By One, their fouth studio album, gave us classics like All My Life and Times Like These. The double disc album, In Your Honor, comes Best Of You. Skin and Bones comes from their live album of the same name, which Dave Grohl had previousy recorded in Nirvana. And their last studio album, Echoes Silence, Patience and Grace, brought us Long Road to Ruin and the incredible stomper, The Pretender.

All are great songs, but it would of been perfect if it had Low on. Foo Fighters are an amazing band and all these songs are 5 star songs. Best songs songs on the album are Everlong, My Hero, Best Of You, All My Life, Times Like These, Breakout and The Pretender

Good tunes but misses a few

Foo Fighters are a great band and all the songs on this compilation are great and the music is 5 stars and new single Wheels shows they have more left in them. But this has missed some great songs particularly of 2005s double album In Your Honour ( in my opinion their best) with only 1 song 'Best of You' included. Other top singles off that ablum have been ignored like DOA, No Way Back and Resolve which are among the Foos best and not to mention some great acoustic tracks like 'Miracle' and 'Friend of a Friend'. Good collection but not 1 that summarises their career.

Biography

Formed: 1995 in Seattle, WA

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

When Foo Fighters released a debut album written and recorded entirely by leader Dave Grohl — at that point known only as the powerhouse drummer for Nirvana — in the summer of 1995, few would have guessed that the group would wind up as the one band to survive the '90s alt-rock explosion unscathed. Other bands burned brighter but they flamed out, breaking up after scoring a hit or two, while the Foos steadily racked up success after success, filling stadiums around the world while staying...
