Album Review

When it was released in the summer of 2008, Francesca Battistelli's My Paper Heart garnered attention in CCM circles because of "I'm Letting Go," a single that sounded like a B-side to Sara Bareilles' ubiquitous "Love Song," an adult contemporary hit at the time. It seemed like an opportunistic move on the part of her handlers, but Battistelli was no copycat: the rest of My Paper Heart positioned her as an up-and-coming singer/songwriter in her own right, a youthful songstress with a smoky, soulful voice — much like a younger, faith-based version of Fiona Apple or Rachael Yamagata. Battistelli's dealings aren't quite as somber and jazzy as those singers' — she does, after all, operate within the confines of Christian music, where a certain degree of exuberance is almost required — but she is heartfelt and transparent in her delivery. Her warmth and her aptitude in adopting various sensibilities — soft R&B, piano pop, balladry — render Battistelli a talent to watch in years to come.

That is purely it, she is absolutely amazing. Her songs are filled with emotion and her voice is phenominal. Not many people have heard of this artist, but i am very lucky person who has. Every single song on this album needs to be listened to, i sometimes go through albums and there are tracks that i have to skip; i dont have to do that with this album as it is amazing. My favourite songs on here are: Unpredictable, Someday Soon, Its Your Life, Keeping Me Guessing (Acoustic) If you dont want to buy the whole album, those are the songs that deserve a listen.

She is an amazing singer n all her songs have an honesty 2 them, u can relate 2 the lyrics completely! Love it :))

Simply Great.

This amazing singer has a spiritual depth as deep as Kate Voegele, a softer side like Colbie Caillat, at times the powerfulness of Carrie Underwood, and an album building technique similar to that of Sara Bareilles. So if you like any of these artists you will more than likely love Francesca Battistelli. :)

Overall this is a great album - I only rate the ones that I think are THE best albums so as to encourage people to buy them :) Even if you don't listen to religious music avidly (which I didn't really, until this album caught my attention), or you assume you won't like it, you should check this out because it has so much more to offer than you think. This album is well polished yet it thankfully doesn't have the fakeness that many albums out there are starting to have these days. I'd recommend you buy this in a heartbeat, because it has everything an album needs. :D

Christian pop songstress Francesca Battistelli began her music career at a young age. When she was six years old, the New York City native attended a Broadway performance of The Secret Garden and walked away with her sights set on the stage. Both of Battistelli's parents were experienced theater performers, so her decision came as a surprise to no one. Acting classes and dance lessons helped her form a solid work ethic, and by the age of 15, Battistelli had earned a spot in the Orlando-based teen...
