Transported back in time

I have to admit, I only bought this album because I'm interested in ww2. I put it on one rainy sunday afternoon and absolutely fell in love with it. I felt absolutely transported back to another time and place. There is such a diverse mix of music here that I imagine (obviously I was not there) completely capture the sentiment of the nation at the time, on one hand there are patriotic, spirited songs to inspire a nation in a time of war. On the other hand, there are songs of regret, lonliness and sadness, invoking the spirit of parted/deceased lovers/family. Admittedly, there are some songs that are verging on silly almost, but the real standout tracks more than make up for these shortcoming. By standout tracks I mean, for me personally: 1. Helen Forrest and Dick Haymes- It Had to Be You 2. Tony Martin- The Last Time I Saw Paris 3. Al Bowlly- Goodnight Sweetheart 4. Anne Shelton- I'll Be Seeing You 5. The Andrews Sisters- The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy 6. The Mills Brothers- You Always Hurt The One You Love
