A Solid Effort

This is a very good debut from Dot, with the stand out tracks in my opinion being 'My Guys' (where Griminal really spits fire), 'Making Hits' and 'Is It War?'. The production is typically solid, however i was a little disappointed that some songs aren't 'grimey' enough for my taste - but then again I have only listened to a lot of Ghetto and Griminal recently. All in all, a good release from debut where his lyrics, flow and intelligence are really noticeable. Let's hope that he manages to exceed this one next time.

dis album is BANGING dun kno fam. and boy below dun talk waste wen u dun kno nuffin dot rotten is from OGz not ruff sqwad . anyway get dis album cos the beats are disgusting and his flow merks dem. bless

One of 2008's best grime CDs

Only revewing this cos I noticed some flaws in the others. This isn't Dots debut, (previously released a free mixtape 'This Is The Beginning' which is as good as this if not better) and he's never been associated with Ruff Sqwad. He has however progressed to be one of the best mc's and producers in the scene at the minute. R.I.P Young Dot shows Dot's advanced bars flow and rhyming pattern, incororating his imperfect but effective singing on several tunes, not to mention showing his exceptional production skills on each tune. Displaying 12 of the best grime tracks you'll hear this year, throwing in the simple but big instrumental Grime and Bass and the riddim that made Dot blow up as a producer, Bazooka. If you're looking for the best evidence of how grime music keeps grimey whilst advancing in sound from the 'glory' days of a few years ago, R.I.P Young Dot is probably the CD for you. Standout tunes include 'MC's Don't Bother Me', 'Isit War', and 'Can't Test My Crew' but it's hard to just pick 3 out of at least 8 or 9 bangers.
