Album Review

If one wants just about everything even vaguely of interest by the Farm without wanting to spend a lot of time or worry, find a copy of this release used somewhere and go nuts. Containing three mixes of the title track, two of "All Together Now" and the original Terry Farley-produced mix of "Stepping Stone," Groovy Train assembles all the Farm just about any casual listener will ever need or want. Hearing the clear grafting of post-Jam-style rough-voiced rock/soul onto terribly obvious if effective baggy beats makes for amusement, but as straightforward pop fusions go, it's fine enough, and at its best effectively inspirational. The names of the mixes both indicate their purpose and are hilariously ham-handed — thus the more house-tinged "groovy club mix," the "indie rock mix," and so forth. Somewhere, it's forever Madchester 1990 and England is almost in the World Cup final, so play this when the need arises.
