Mercyful Fate - Don't Break The Oath

In case the cool album cover isn't enough to get you to purchase this album; let me tell you that this is one of the coolest albums from one of the all-time great metal bands. They do not get enough kudos and it shocks me how many people younger than myself that call themselves metal fans have not heard them. The songs 'The Oath', 'Gypsy', and 'A Dangerous Meeting' are brilliant enough and the whole album is full of great twists and turns that you could only get from musicians of this quality. Add the greatness of the track 'Come To The Sabbath' which is an immortal metal anthem and you have an underlooked masterpiece. The big draw of the band is ov course King Diamond's vocal wizardry, but the record has so much more to offer!

Mercyful Fate won a large cult following thanks to their dramatic lyrics, showing a Gothic obsession with evil and the occult, and Diamond's amazing vocal range, which shifted from a low growl to a banshee scream, plus the interplay of Shermann and Denner. The band broke up after two full-length albums owing to differences of opinion about what direction the group should...
