Moving forward

It is easy for a artist to continually make the same kind of sound. The hardest thing I feel is for an artist is to push or evolve, or express themselves, on new material. Thank goodness Thundercat has truly surpassed himself on this record. He should be up there with all the great stars of them moment, but until he transcends to game and glory we can enjoy this great music from a great artist, with some help from some other great artist. Forget the 60s 70s 80s etc the time is now people. So embrace this album with both ears!

Another awesome album from the awesome Thundercat, featuring the heavy (in the right way) hands of Flying Lotus on the controls. Funkytrippyjazzsoulpsychedelia with heavy 70s hippy nu-soul sunshine vibes. Nobody else is making sounds like these right now. And the bass playing is right up there with your Tom Jenkinsons.

Deep joy!

An Amazing Aural Pleasure

Thundercat has tapped every part of my aural senses with his new album and. From 'Apocalypse' he has truly outdone himself, a majority of the tracks intertwined with his soft vocals, amazing collaborative pieces from the likes of Flying Lotus and Mono/Poly are special.
Astral-jazz, Electro-synthesizers... That take me to a place of deep thought.

His nimble, syncopated, groove-heavy basslines were heard on albums by Erykah Badu, Sa-Ra, Flying Lotus, and others. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Bruner had the good fortune to be part of a music family. His father, Ronald Bruner Sr., was an accomplished drummer, working with artists like Diana Ross, the Temptations, and Gladys Knight....
