iTunes Review

From John Lennon’s opening guitar crunch of “Revolution” to the dizzying psychedelic wind-up of “Tomorrow Never Knows”, this exclusive album collects The Beatles’ songs that rock the hardest. The early power of “I’m Down” only hints at the band’s colossal statement of heaviness with “Helter Skelter”—a song that came well before Zeppelin and AC/DC fully powered up. The stripped-down rock and soul of “I’ve Got a Feeling” is set up with mid-period FM radio rockers like “Paperback Writer” and “And Your Bird Can Sing”.

Great songs, shame about the greed

Am I missing something here? Surely most Beatle fans have most if not all the songs on this LP. It is nothing new, just another excuse to sell you what you probably already have. Make a playlist in iTunes with these songs and you'll save yourself £5.99.

16 Years Old

Understand this: whether you like the heaviest of metal, to the bubbliest of pop, The Beatles will change your perception of music. They are the band to discover the importance of lyrics, and experimentation of music. This is a great collection of the rock sound, and if you love any of these songs, you must find more. However, there are a lot of calmer and far more moving songs within their discography. Just listen if you haven't, it is history.

Brilliant into BUT!

I've loved The Beatles more than any other band since I was 12 (now 60) and have bought all their stuff incluidng the remastered CDS so agree with those who say make your own playlists. But for anyone who doesn't have Beatle music then this is a great intro. But any album designed for Beatle virgins should include Day in the Life as the best song ever written by anyone and Strawberry Fields and I Am The Walrus should be there too.

Formed: 1957 in Liverpool, England

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '60s

So much has been said and written about the Beatles -- and their story is so mythic in its sweep -- that it's difficult to summarize their career without restating clichés that have already been digested by tens of millions of rock fans. To start with the obvious, they were the greatest and most influential act of the rock era, and introduced more innovations into popular music than any other rock band of the 20th century. Moreover, they were among the few artists of any discipline that were simultaneously...
