An Excellent Introduction.

This is, as suggested, is an excellent introduction to The Enid, and gives the new listener as glimpse into their legacy - which sadly, so many simply do not know about. It takes tracks from (I think), each of The Enid's dozen or so albums between 1977 & 2008. It shows how they, in one way, have developed through the decades - and yet in one sense have remained true to their roots. Early tracks are clearly very classically influenced, but as time went on this moved into more progressive areas, into more spacious new-agey vibe into, even, some dance / trance type stuff. Some is powerful, some is gentle, some is beautiful, but all is simply, GOOD!

A track by track dissection would be too long, but for those who enjoy their music majestic, progressive, orchestral, pompous, self-indulgent and pretentious (all in the best possible way!), this is for you. Big themes, enormous sound, huge arrangements, epic song writing.

Sadly, Dark Hydraulic doesn't make it onto this compilation, as also a few other great tracks. But I guess that is the limitations of the 160min of two CDs! Nevertheless, for a first taste, this is ideal. But once you have tasted this, makes sure you go on and have the full meal. You will not be disappointed.

Two years later the group followed that release with Aerie Faerie Nonsense. In 1979 they released Touch Me and...
