Four years after Ed Sheeran co-wrote Justin Bieber’s break-up anthem “Love Yourself”, the pair have had a change of heart: On “I Don’t Care”, they serenade their significant others in head-over-heels fashion. Bieber sings lead on much of the song, with lyrics that seemingly touch on some of his very public struggles with depression: “With all these people all around I'm crippled with anxiety/I can deal with the bad nights/When I'm with my baby.” Nonetheless, the breezy beat, featuring rhythmic nods to dancehall à la Ed’s “Shape of You”, helps keeps the mood bright.
