Bring back Carter Burwell!
What about 'Bella's Lullaby'? what about the distinctive piano themes, the base and guitar-laden tracks (which would have been amazing for all the werewolf bits)? It's just not the same without even a HINT of the beautiful original themes, and if they were going to replace Burwell, they could have found a better composer than Desplat, who is dull at the best of times. This is a real disappointment, and reminiscent of Harry Potter, whose scores went way downhill after losing the original composer.
Both the book and film are amazing!!! While I cannot deny the score certainly captures Bella's heartbreak at times I still don't see why they drop all of the themes from Twilight. Carter Burwell's score was full of love and Bella's Lullaby was a masterpiece.
New Moon is a great score, just don't expect to be moved by it as you were with Twilight's. That said, I'm still buying it like any Twilight fan!
This is a beautiful score to tie-in with the phenomenon that is the "Twilight Saga". For me, the score is what keeps the film together. He has done a fantastic job of capturing the "heartbreak" that Bella faces throughout the film. If you're not wanting to buy the whole album then I'd highly recommend "New Moon", "Edward Leaves", "Memories of Edward", "You're Alive", "Marry Me, Bella" and "Full Moon".
