Editors’ Notes

While the Calgary-bred twins have a catalog rooted in indie-rock and folk-tinted tunes, they’ve been flashing a penchant for crafting incredibly catchy cuts the whole time (highlighted by 2007’s “Back in Your Head”)—plus, Sara has co-written for pop sensation Carly Rae Jespen. The siblings’ seventh album, Heartthrob, arrives after they’ve been collaborating with electronic heavyweights including David Guetta and Tiësto—a telltale sign that Tegan and Sara are increasingly embracing dance pop. To create Heartthrob, the pair teamed with all-star producers—including Greg Kurstin (P!nk, Kelly Clarkson) and Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Paramore). The outcome includes many sparkling, love-themed dance jams that immediately hook listeners with an enviable one-two punch: The opener, “Closer,” boasts icy-cool sass atop buzzing synths and effervescent electronic accouterments, while the melody on “Goodbye, Goodbye” is like a mix between an Atari soundtrack and MGMT-inspired riff. The deluxe version includes two bonus tracks and the “Closer” video.

Better than The Con? I think so

I've been a huge fan of these lady's for years and was worried when I heard they where making a pop album. I was wrong to worry.
This is some of the best music they have ever written. Every song grabbed me the first time I heard them.
You need to buy this album, it's what pop is meant to sound like.
I'm so proud of them. It's going to give them the success they always should have had :)

Every track on the album is a potential single! Amazing - been a fan of their music since the first album!

Absolutely brilliant.

Being a long-term Tegan and Sara fan I was excited as ever to hear that they were releasing a new album, upon hearing it was due to be different to their old stuff there was always worries it may not be as good but it's just as good if not better.
When Closer was first released I absolutely fell in love with it, and it was on repeat constantly. The sound was very different from their usual stuff but in a good way, they had nailed it. This is one of those rare albums in which every song on the tracklist is awesome. I well and truly love every single song on it, and that is a very rare thing to happen.

Having personally recently gone through a messy break up this song is like a beautiful companion for my feelings. It feels as if every song was written about me, which is a sign of very clever writing as every song seems to be applicable to everyone's individual feelings. The songs go through emotions of heart wrenching sadness to uplifting, optimistic happiness and the whole album flows wonderfully.

Stand out songs for me include; Closer, How Come You Don't Want Me, Drove Me Wild, Love They Say and I Was A Fool. Although, going through the album I could seriously say every single song is a stand out one. It's a real shame these girls aren't so much bigger, they really deserve it. Absolutely brilliant writing, sound and a wonderful album for people suffering heartbreak as well as people in love. There truly is a song for everyone on this album. Buy it now, you certainly won't regret it.

An award winning, internationally successful indie pop duo comprised of identical siblings Tegan and Sara Quin, Tegan and Sara first burst onto the Canadian music scene in 1998, when they earned the highest score in history at Calgary's "Garage Warz" competition; their quick rise didn't stop, for their melodic acoustics and charming stage personas led to a slew of dates with Sarah McLachlan's Lilith Fair that same year and a record deal with Neil Young's Vapor Records in April 2000.
