iTunes Review

What does a metal band do when they’ve demolished everything they’ve set out to demolish? Create more anthems to chaos, naturally. For its second self-titled album (the first was its 2000 debut) Killswitch Engage’s melodic metalcore brutality gets a facelift. Producer Brendan O’Brien pushed vocalist Howard Jones to enunciate and sing more and the difference can be heard on “The Forgotten” and “The Return” with Jones clearly channeling his inner Bruce Dickinson. The band matches his focus and intensity; the first two singles “Reckoning” and “Starting Over” reveal a leaner, cleaner KsE firing on all pistons. The twin guitar work of Adam Dutkiewicz and Joel Stroetzel and drummer Justin Foley’s double kick work create a worthy soundtrack for the hardest MMA entrance music or the gnarliest Wall of Death pits. Metalcore is crowded with pretenders and Killswitch Engage is a convincing argument for KsE’s ascension to the throne.

Amazing Album

There best so far, well worth the buy!

Good as usual. But could be better.

I think this is a great album, they are my favourite band without doubt.
However I think end of heartache and as daylight dies are are lot better, infact they are perfect.
The band had a lot to live up to.
I personally prefer more screaming to singing, which is why i prefer the older albums, and also this album has hardly any pinch harmonics.
Where did they go??

The four bandmembers who came together and created Killswitch Engage already had strong fan followings. Mike D'Antonio (bass) was formerly the leader and principal songwriter of Overcast, the legendary underground metal group. When Overcast split in 1998, D'Antonio sought for a year to find the right combination of players to fuse hardcore and metal with melody. During the summer of 1999, D'Antonio connected with Adam Dutkiewicz, who was the drummer for Aftershock, and Joel...
