Sounds good but she's changing a lot, which isn't a bad thing.
I just think that she could well be becoming (dare I say it?) borderline pretentious.
ACIDK was just about acceptable but it gets to the point when you wonder if SHE even knows what she's on about...? Demons, beasts, godesses. It sounds forced. It sounds very simple of me to say this, but I preferred the honest, straightforward Marling from AICS and ISBIC. You could really get the feeling of how she felt and what she was talking about, now though she writes songs about mythology and the latest book she read, and I can't draw any meaning or honesty from her songs. As I said, they're forced, and I think songwriting is one of the worst things to rush or force.

Got my hands on a copy of this today and I'm listening through it for the second time as I write. It's a breathtaking next step for a woman who's already shown us that the art of songwriting is still alive and kicking. It's really difficult to pick a favourite but the first 4 tracks, that all seque into one another quite beautifully, are wonderful. It's not going to be everyone's cup of tea, there's an almost eastern vibe to a fair amount of the instrumentation on the record. The likes of Master Hunter, Once and Where Can I Go? are stand out candidates for single release but to really appreciate the songs you need to hear them in the context of an LP - 60+ minutes of beautifully expressd emotion. I truly loved it.

Another great album

Just going by the one track that's available here, I think this is going to be another classic Marling album.

Singer/songwriter Laura Marling was only 16 years old when she emerged on the British indie scene in 2007 thanks to a handful of infectious singles made available on her MySpace profile. Endowed with a husky voice, an acoustic guitar, and a gift for building quirky, hooky folk songs (characteristics that find her compared favorably to artists like Lily Allen, Regina Spektor, and Martha Wainwright), Marling quickly made a name for herself throughout England thanks to a heavy touring schedule and a...
