A classic album in every sense of the word, emotive, powerful, stirring. Superbly recorded and produced. This album should have gone "digital" years ago! Can't believe it's forty years old! It knock's spot's off most modern efforts. Buy it and immerse yourself in it.
An absolute classic.
Firstly, to those who have already written reviews here sad it had taken so long to go 'digital', Ode Records released a CD version available on import from the USA in the late 80's(ODECD 1972). I used to visit Tower Records in London like a trip to MECCA from Scotland. When I discovered this on CD it was like finding the Holy Grail. I even remember carrying it to the till as if there should be a fanfare.
It replaced a rather worn out album version (Bought from The Dress Circle in London) and all was well again.
I remember at the time telling folk about how wonderful this album was and because there was always the 'Original' version by such legends as The Who,nobody gave a stuff.
This,as others here have advised is absolutely stunning and I think every music collection should have it. Underture is my personal favourite on here. The quality is simply superb and I have to say I was very pleased to compare my uploaded CD version against the usually over the top iTunes conversion and say they're almost identical.
If you are on this page and asking the question "Should I buy it or leave it for now?" BUY IT NOW!
Tommy - LSO
I purchased this album in cassette form when it was originally released. I played it so mch that I damaged the tape. I have been searching for a digital version for years. If you like a classical, choral, rock mixture then you will love this. The production of this classic rock album s brilliant with excellent performances from the guest vocalists. Tommy Walker has reached his 40th anniversary and any fan of The Who, the album or classical interpretations should add this whole album to their collection. I am delighted to have this back in my collection.
