Album Review

Hailed by some as the return of the Brit-pop and baggy sounds that dominated U.K. indie in the early '90s, Peace's debut album, In Love, is rife with the snotty vocals, busy percussion, and swooping guitars that were the hallmarks of Blur and the Stone Roses back in the day. Unlike some of their fellow revivalists, Peace have nearly as much swagger as their influences, and their confidence sells songs like "Waste of Paint" and the singles "Wraith" and "Follow Baby." Elsewhere, "Delicious" and "Higher Than the Sun" reflect the band's dreamier, trippier side, while the closing ballad "California Daze" suggests that the former Sound of 2013 nominees might have more depth than their (well-done) rehashes suggest.
