Album Review

Ruby Lovett's eponymous debut album is a fine collection of urbane country music that emphasizes her nuanced vocals and skill at interpretation. Lovett's sound is based in the appealing country-folk that made Mary Chapin-Carpenter and Allison Krauss stars, but her music is a little more polished than those artists. Even if the production may alienate some listeners who would otherwise enjoy the album, it isn't too slick, and it helps give the album an appropriate sheen that makes it easy to enjoy.
