Classic album of a uniquely smooth blend of Brazilian and Italian music.

This record, from 1976, brings together the Brazilian musicians Toquinho and Vinicius de Moraes, along with the great Italian singer Ornella Vanoni. It has a great blend of über-smooth, lilting Brazilian music with tangy Italian singing, creating an intoxicating atmosphere evoking warm evenings in tropical places. This record has been a hit for decades at Italian summer dinner parties, and even if you can't follow the Italian lyrics, this record will melt your heart.

Born September 22, 1934, to a Milanese family, Italian singer Ornella Vanoni spent most of her twenties alternating between theater (her debut was in 1957 with Federico Zardi's I Giacobini) and music. She started by singing "le canzoni della mala," or songs about the underworld, but after meeting Gino Paoli in 1960 (with whom she wrote "Senza Fine," one of her biggest hits) she began exploring the more sentimental sounds of pop.
