Still essential

I think the general encouragement from the band is to steal this one and then quote the title to the court as your defence. But I'm sure they could do with the money so buying is probably a good idea as well. A deeply wonderful album and very satisfying to see them on such a creative roll recently. Great moments include the Ray Winstone introduction, the frankly bizarre idea of having Bez recite the beatitudes, the one with the George Harrison sample, the south of the bridge chant on track 2 (good to see all the young folk up on stage in Kentish Town last night) and the bruised intensity of Let's Go Out 2nite. But many more besides. If you haven't already, just stop dithering and buy it. You know it makes sense.

Essential indeed....

Alabama 3 have never let this listener down. This album is no exception. "Revolver Soul" was particularly dark even for Alabama 3 and they still seem to be in that groove. Talking of which, there are numerous cracking toons here as well as ascerbic lyrics aplenty as usual. "Saved", "Facebook.con" and "I've Been Seeing Stars...." are stand-outs. I see they've also briefly adopted the voice distortion so prevalent these days including it in the opening track and it's good to hear it NOT dominate an entire album. Oh, and love the album sleeve by the way! If you want to check Alabama 3 out having listened to this then there is a pretty extensive back catalogue and all of it is rarely short of brilliant. Buy this. Buy it right now.

Great Album!

Alabama 3 was one of the oddest musical outfits to arise from late-'90s London, but also one of the most original. The band's origins are shrouded in urban myth — the band likes to claim that the three core members met in rehab, while their Southern accents have many believing they are from the U.S. state of Alabama, although it appears vocalists Rob Spragg and Jake Black met at a London rave when Spragg heard Black singing Hank Williams' "Lost Highway." Bonding, they set out about creating...
