Album Review

Izzy Stradlin was always the most gifted member of Guns N' Roses, able to put a modern spin on the classic rock of Chuck Berry, the Stones, and the Faces, as well as the New York Dolls and Sex Pistols. Axl may have had the angst and Slash may have had the chops, but Izzy had the smarts and the heart. On his debut album, the traditional elements that had always formed the backbone of Stradlin's music with Guns N' Roses comes to the forefront — it's Stones and Faces all the way, but it is done well. Izzy Stradlin & the Ju Ju Hounds is terrific only half of the time, which is good enough for a debut album.

Customer Reviews

Good to see the whole album has now been added as it is a classic and should be in any rock/blues collection but be warned this album is UNDER £4 on a popular web based entertainment shop. Sort it out Itunes.

where the frick is the rest of the album, eh?!!!

Come on iTunes, trade descriptions act!!! you say partial album and I only see one track. I've got this album on vinyl and was hoping to try and retrieve some of my faves but to no avail - sort it out iTunes as this is a really good album. Four stars for the track, One for the fact hardly any tracks are here...

Smelling of Roses

Shame that itunes hasn't got the whole album, the review however is spot on. Izzy shows that he was a vital element of what made GN'R work. Slash's awful debut proved that he wasn't penning the Guns tunes, Duff's debut, whilst good fun, was no 'Appetite'. Let's not mention Gilby Clarke's efforts. We may one day hear what Axl can do without Izzy, but any band would miss song writing like this. Good luck to you Izzy.

The gals dug Axl and the musicians dug Slash, but the man in the back, guitarist Izzy Stradlin, was just as much an integral part of Guns N' Roses. Stradlin's exit from the group in 1991 also signaled the beginning of the end for G N' R, as they became more of the "Axl Rose Show" and less of a full-fledged band. Born in Lafayette, Indiana on April 8, 1962, Stradlin (whose real name is Jeff Isbell) developed a deep appreciation of the Rolling Stones and particularly Keith Richards. It wasn't long...
