Jaco (surname unnecessary)

I was first introduced to this album by my brother along with Bright Size Life, his collaboration with Pat Metheny. I had been talking with him about the sound of the bass guitar in some pop music that I was listening to and he said "If you like the sound of the bass then you need to hear Jaco Pastorius" When I listened to this album it was difficult to know just what I was listening to. I had no reference point for a bass guitar sounding like this. When I then heard Birdland I was cut adrift even further. If you are looking to hear sounds that you will never hear anywhere else, then try this, if you are at all interested in the Bass Guitar then just listen to this for the rest of your life, it will be the only teacher you ever need and if you have never heard of Jaco Pastorius then get this and discover him.

Amazing Album

Such a great Album! Jaco and his music are sadly missed!

Hell yeah!

This is, quite simply, I great album. I make breakfast to it early in the morning. You can do everything in double time- a fried egg in 30 seconds once the stove gets going.

He also sported a strutting, dancing, flamboyant performing style and posed a further triple-threat as a talented composer, arranger and producer. He...
