iTunes Review

Director Jason Reitman’s film about a young couple’s unexpected pregnancy provides a soundtrack that primarily reflects a childlike sense of wonder. Kimya Dawson appears solo, with her old group, the Moldy Peaches, and her side project Antsy Pants. Her contributions, regardless of name, reflect the open-eyed whimsy that Dawson applies to all her work. (“Tire Swing,” for example, features a whistling solo.) Several short instrumentals from Dawson provide the film’s incidental music, while children’s music singer Barry Louis Polisar adds a harmonica-driven folk-tune “All I Want Is You” and 1960s legends the Velvet Underground are represented by the Maureen Tucker sung lullaby “I’m Sticking With You.” Rounding out the soundtrack are an odd assortment of classic rockers, from Buddy Holly’s obscure “Dearest” to the more obvious Kinks tune “A Well Respected Man” and Mott the Hoople’s David Bowie-penned “All the Young Dudes.” Cat Power’s dour take on Phil Phillips’ “Sea of Love” is matched by Sonic Youth’s dark, whispered interpretation of the Carpenters’ “Superstar,” that once appeared on a tribute to the ‘70s duo.

Great Soundtrack!

I downloaded this the morning of release before setting off for work, I'd just seen the film at the weekend and thought the soundtrack was great. Looking through the credits I couldn't find anything about an OST or music release. Sure enough searching in iTunes there it was. The first complete album I've bought from iTunes; and really if you like the music from the film you wouldn't buy the singles, the other tracks are great and you'll find yourself whistling and humming the tunes all day!

A Wonderful Collection Of Songs For An Excellent Film

This collection of songs is an absolute jem! Its peaceful, relaxing and accompanies the film so well! I recommend checking out the the full length version of "My Rollercoaster" by Kimya Dawson! And finally Anyone Else But You....Sung by Michael Cera and the Oscar nominated Ellen Page is just the perfect ending to the record! A must have!! P.S...The Film Is A Treat!

Album of The Year!

This is such an incredible album, I just love it! I saw the film which is amazing then I just rushed home and downloaded this. Every track is so meaningful and plays like a real mixtape from the film. Its a varied album and has something for everyone - indie rock and classic rock gems. It's the perfect companion for a wonderful film, yet i'd still love it if i hadn't seen the film. Highly recommended! The album of the year!
