I was a bit unsure about whether to buy this album, as I didn't quite know what to expect. In the end, I decided to splash out on the basis that 'Lay Down the Law' is an excellent single. Trust me, if you like that song, you'll love this album. Firstly, the song 'Drama Queen' sets the tone for the album - upbeat with great sing-a-long lyrics, rock with a great pop touch. It's a brilliant opener, and one of the best on the album. 'Snakes and Ladders' was Single of the Week a while ago and I gave it a few listens then, and wasn't overly impressed. It's not a bad tune, but seeing what Switches have to offer with the rest of this album it's very average. Probably one of the more pop-like tunes. 'Lay Down the Law' is just incredible. It's fantastic to listen to any time, any place and is the stan dout track of the album. 5 stars, if you dont buy the album, buy this track because it's just sensational. 'Coming Down' is another track similar to 'Snakes and Ladders', not quite showuing their potential but still a decent track, lyrics again about love and family as with the rest of the album. Next, my second favourite track on the album. 'Give Up the Ghost' is a really good tune, great chorus (another great sing-a-long song) and my personal recommendation if you want to try before you buy. As with 'Lay Down the Law', a 5 star track. 'The Need to Be Needed' usually wouldnt be my cup of tea. It's a slower song, with some rocky bits. But for some reason it's one of the best songs on the album. It works really well and another outstanding song. It is sort of similar to 'Every Second Counts', another great song that works really well. Everyone should love these two. Either side of 'Every Second Counts' are 'Message From Yuz' and 'Step Kids In Love'. These four songs (including 'The Need to Be Needed') make up a fantastic middle section of the album, possibly the best section of the record. Again nodding more towards their rock influences and the themes of family and love, these are must-have songs. 'Lovin' It' and 'Killer Karma' slow down the pace of the album once again, not personal favourites for me but I never skip them - the best thing about this album is you can listen to all of it, there isn't a single bad tune. 'Testify' is a great closer, many fans will have heard this as they play it a lot live. Great rocky tune. The three bonus tracks are great as of no extra cost, 'Solid Gold' is my favourite of the three, having sort of a grungy theme and something different from the rest of the album which will please many people, including me! 'Stephanie' is similar with it's slowness to 'Killer Karma' and is a decent tune; alot of people have stated they love 'No Hero'. It's also fantastic, and to have it as a bonus track is brilliant. Overall, this album is brilliant. I'd recommend it to anyone, but in particular, fans of rock/pop such as Franz Ferdinand, The Killers but also music such as Muse or even Take That! It really has an appeal to every music lover! Buy this album, you need it.

Playing tough, witty, and hook-laden rock that exists in a time warp in which glam rock and Britpop are the talk of the British Isles, Switches is the brainchild of lead singer and guitarist Matt Bishop. Bishop claims he was already writing songs on a tiny guitar made for him by his father (a BBC engineer) at the age of five, and began recording them on a Fisher-Price cassette machine, creating overdubs by playing back his creations on his mom's stereo and singing along with them. (Bishop adds that...
