Album Review

On his second full-length solo album, Roth turns down the guitars, adds more melody, and makes a more polished, but less interesting record, highlighted by the soaring pop of "Just Like Paradise."

Skyscaper is Awesome

This is David Lee Roth at his Best , Full of pomp and attitude and quite different from the music everyone else was making at the time.
Slightly tongue in cheek at times but what would you expect . Singles Like Stand Up and Paradise are pretty radio friendly but dig a bit deeper and
you will find the gems such as perfect timing that will get you tapping your feet and nodding your head, Hina Explodes from your speakers with awesome guitar work not forgetting the lyrics a tribute to a woman or so it seems , And to finnish Hot Dog and a shake , well what can say the guy is a genius !

Almost, but not quite...

A good follow up to Eat Em and Smile, but not great. Somewhere, along the line, Dave gave more production control to Vai and it results in far too much gloss. The songs are, generally, great but the over production drags the album down a bit. Both are on top form, just a shame they couldn't stop tinkering with it!

Missing songs

This is a superb album - but would be better if it was complete. "California Girls" and "Just a Gigolo/I ain't got Nobody" are missing......

Born on October 10, 1954 in Bloomington, Indiana, Roth was introduced to music at an early age, via his father's affinity...
