Album Review

Produced by mentor and former les Valentins member Edith Fambuena, Pauline Croze is the self-titled debut album from the French folk-pop vocalist. Released in 2005, it includes songs written by Doriand and Mickey 3D's Mickael Furnon alongside the self-penned singles "Larmes" and "Tes Beau." A bonus edition featuring a cover of Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta's "You're the One That I Want," a previously unreleased track, Mien Voulez-Vous Encore, and a DVD was also released. ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi

Customer Reviews

C'est si bon...

She's got a great voice, no two ways about it, and a quirky approach to songwriting. Music like this makes you wonder why there isn't a bigger audience for French music outside France. It just sounds great. Pauline Croze can be admired for having such an eclectic approach to her music. Each track sounds different, and that may actually even be a problem for her. Tracks like 'Mise a nu' and 'Dans la chaleur de la nuit' are brilliant contemporary very French music. But you have to wonder what possessed her to sing in English at all, let alone to sing 'You're the one that I want'. Bit of Gallic humour, perhaps? Basically, a brilliant album, perhaps trying to be a little too eclectic.

Beautiful songs

Excellent French Pop. "T'es beau" is a very pretty guitar-accoustic love song. I really like the bossa nova feel in "Tita". Pauline can't sing in English that's true, but her rendition of "You're the one that I want" is still mightily impressive, (beautiful voice - great blues).
