iTunes Review

What’s new this time out for Rebel Transmission is a more prominent pop influence added to the Canadian quartet’s gumbo of vintage R&B, street-corner gospel, and homespun folk. If the album seems a response to the band’s recent success, the music here retains the heartfelt and almost giddy sense of joy that made its first release such a standout. Singer/keyboardist Joel Parisien infuses his Christian testimony with a genial glow that’s hard to resist. Tracks like “Radio Ghost Town,” “Homeless Child," and “5,6,7,8” match his effusive spirit with thumping retro-soul beats and the zesty brass of The Chops Horns. Rather than simply revive the sounds of Motown and Stax, NewWorldSon adds a dash of hip-swinging funk on “Shake Holy Spirit,” offers sparkling country on “Sweet Grace,” and delves into doo-wop on “Old Time Religion.” Ballads like “Today” (a plainspoken declaration of faith) and “Southern Cross” (a traveler’s ode to home) bring some reflective moments to the party. Rebel Transmission refines NewWorldSon’s music a bit, but the band’s festive revival air remains as appealing as ever.

Right here, Right now

Preview the songs to get a feel for the Newworldson sound. It's not my usual thing. It might not be yours. But this is a quality product and it is gracing my iPod frequently. It's uplifting and hugely fun. Just like your local church....... ;-)

Old Time Religion? No. It's right here, right now. Recommended.

Praise music on God

This has a 60s/70s soul feel but is quite modern at the same time. This band were one of the stand out bands at The Big Church Day Out on the main stage and later in the after hours tent. What I heard was unlike most other music and seemed to engage with me and God in a personal, thrilling and joyous way. The tracks are infectious and irresistible - at times a personal confession or testimony, at times talking straight to God. Wonderful - Selah!

AH-MAZING x100!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I absolutley LOVE this band to peices!!!!!! What i love about this new album is the fact that they've seemed to mature not only spiritually, based on the lyrics, but also musically. It sounds as though they've finally found their groove so to speak. Their first two albums was a collection of different musical genres which didn't quite flow as smoothly from song to song; not that their previous two albums were bad in ANY WAY WHATSOEVER!!!!!!!!!!!! But with this album they've stuck to one genre and EVERY SONG is smooth and polished with the distinct NewWorldson flavour. They have finally found their own musical signature. There is no denying that they've always had one; its what makes them stand out from the run-of-the-mill gospel scene- it just wasn't as polished as it is in this album. All i can say is well done boys and stay blessed and on fire for our God!!!!!!!!!!!
