Arctic Monkeys I'm Yours

Now the hype has died down somewhat, I think that any new song by the Arctic Monkeys will be scrutinised and always compared to the first album/singles. "Leave Before The Lights Come On" is a progression from the days of "Fake Tales..." showing a more mature sound. It may lack the immediate impact of the first time you heard "When The Sun Goes Down" and "Bet You Look Good..." but nevertheless this song is fantastic and has been a crowd favourite at their gigs for a while now. I've seen them perform this live and even when the crowd didn't know it, the atmosphere was retained. Anyway back to the songs, and "Put Your Dukes Up John" is their first released cover (even though "Love Machine" has become a cult hit) I think it is better than the original Little Flames version, and "Baby I'm Yours" showcases Alex Turner's vocal range and is evidence that Arctic Monkeys are more than a one trick pony... Let's hope that now they give time to a second album and not just churn one out quickly because their record company demands it...

Good song but better cover!

I love the little flames an the monkeys have done a pretty good job with the cover - much better than 'Leave Before The Lights Come On', sadly i cant say i enjoyed this single as much as the 1st few from the monkeys before but its still good!

When they played this at Reading Festival, Alex said "This one's the black sheep of the family, but we love it all the same." It's such a good song.

By distilling the sounds of Franz Ferdinand, the Clash, the Strokes, and the Libertines into a hybrid of swaggering indie rock and danceable neo-punk, Arctic Monkeys became one of the U.K.'s biggest bands of the new millennium. Their meteoric rise began in 2005, when the teenagers fielded offers from major labels and drew a sold-out crowd to the London Astoria, using little more than a self-released EP as bait. Several months later, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not became the fastest-selling...
