iTunes Review

By 1971’s IV, Led Zeppelin had mastered thumping blues, gentle acoustical folk, hard rock and even pop. Producer/guitarist Jimmy Page had a real ear for sonic textures (like the soaring orchestral crescendo here on “When the Levee Breaks") that changed forever how hard rock would be heard and recorded. Loose-limbed anthems like “Rock ’n’ Roll” dovetail with lilting epics like “Stairway to Heaven", revealing a band at the height of their musical and rock-mystical powers.

For serious zep fans

Well I like it. Anybody who loves Zeppelin will pay the money. Simple as.
Love the rawness and in some cases prefer to the original.

The Well Has Gone Dry

One of the greatest rock albums ever released that should get 5 stars. But it's only getting one because it is another attempt by LedZep estate to milk fans by releasing another unnecessary remix. Who the hell wants the bonus dregs?

A legendary band at their peak

I can't really say any more about the legendary IV album. Quite possibly one of the greatest albums of all time written by the greatest band, although the remix does make for a warmer listening experience where you get in crytal clarity the little nuances and slight things the band did, well worth it for just that. As for the bonus material well far from being'dregs' as someone said it's a little more than that. As far as vocal free songs go I'm no fan but they do illustrate how musically dense the tracks are and how much was going on behind the vocal. Otherwise Black Dog is slightly different with slightly altered vocals towards the close, Rock N Roll in a raw barnstormer, Four Sticks is obviously unfinished, When The Levee Breaks is always going to be a leviathan track but it's Stairway To Heaven that stands out. The sunset sound mix while not ground breaking is a somewhat more intimate (especially in the more acoustic moments) as the song seems to breathe more and at times you feel more like you're in the room which is kinda what the fans always wanted. So if you've already go tthe album and you're in love with it this is the one for you. As it's been rematered and taken care of by Jimmy Page you know he will always want to protect the repuatation and legacy the band leave in their wake and for all the haters who want to criticise, listen to the album or don't comment!!

What the Beatles were to the '60s, Led Zeppelin were to the '70s: a band so successful and innovative they wound up creating the prism through which their entire epoch was seen. Zeppelin ushered in the era of album rock -- they refused to release singles off their albums, even when they were garnering massive radio play -- and of arena rock, playing ever-larger stadiums as their ticket sales skyrocketed. Other bands played on a similar field but Led Zeppelin carried a unique mystique cultivated by...
