Album Review

Fred Deakin and Nick Franglen compiled their first three EPs of fizzy chill-out for those late-night lava lamp staring sessions. It's downtempo for the acid generation, an eschewing of popular prêt-à-porter after-hour aesthetics. You wouldn't catch many an icily cool dance group writing songs of slow-motion fascist mamba marches ("Homage to Patagonia"), universal U.K. garage meditations ("Page One"), or Edward Scissorhands sipping cocktails at Eighteenth Street Lounge Music ("His Majesty King Raam"). Perhaps a good thing.

Buy This Record Now

This was my introduction to Lemon Jelly and they have become a firm favourite leading me to buy everything they have ever released. Stand out tracks "A Tune For Jack" and "The Staunton Lick" feature in my Top 25 Most Played and once they are under your skin you'll love them forever. In fact you may already recognise snippets of their music as they appear to be the music of choice for television programme makers. Lemon Jelly are quirky, different and very good musicians - buy thid record now!

Sit back & relax

If any of you out there are fans of the channel 4 show 'spaced' then this album is for you. So many tracks will be recognisable for all the episodes. My favourite by far 'The Staunton Lick' will have you smiling from ear to ear.

absolutely inspired!

Definately five stars! This whole album is grips my ears. I came across this when some friends who knew nick frangelin and fred deakin recommended it. I love the tradmark soft jelliness which echoes across the whole record. 'A tune for jack' is the best track, also the 'staunton lick' and 'his majesty king raam'.
