Funky fresh from 2006?

Ugly Duckling have produced a solid album here, I am a fan of the old school Hip-Hop genre and this is a group that provides a sound that has been influenced by the classics from the Beastie Boys and Run-DMC. It is clear listening to the album to hear these traits and influence from earlier bands which is why I like it, different from modern mainstream Hip-Hop focusing on a true sound with well thought lyrics, opposed to the modern day "Ring-tone rap" that can be heard about in the track "Smack".

So I'd give the album 4/5, purely because it is good but not mind blowingly so like a 5 star album should be. My favourites are "Smack" and "Slow the Flow".

Not one bad track!!

I'm a fan of old school hip hop and this album doesn't pull any punches. From the opening track to the last they're all very good tunes. Think Jurassic 5, taking cues from the Beastie Boys and RUN DMC.

I like this album a lot. 5/5.

Gangsta rap was the West Coast's dominant hip-hop...
