Album Review

London's Scouting for Girls offer up another radio-ready set of slick, melodic earworms on their third studio outing, the relentlessly upbeat The Light Between Us. Scouting for Girls' penchant for crafting big, hook-filled summer jams is in full swing, and their sheer exuberance, along with vocalist Roy Stride's versatile pipes, which can go from conversational lad-rock bravado to a soaring falsetto in a matter of seconds, allows standout confections like "Summertime in the City" and "Rocky Balboa" to slide down the listener's throat without injury.

Great Album

Great album but is missing some of the catchy songs they used to make! Heartbeat from the first album is fantastic

Sorry to say this but.....

I'm a Scouting for Girls fan too and I found this album disappointing an boring . Would love to have said its great but gotta keep it real :)

A decent album, but more of the same

Don't get me wrong from the start - I like Scouting for Girls. Their debut album was a refreshing piece of bright and cheerful indie pop in an otherwise overproduced and overpopulated market. 'Everybody Wants to be on TV' was also a nice evolution of their sound, which avoided the sophomore slump, but I was kind of hoping their third album would innovate and let them progress as a band musically. But I have been slightly disappointed. And although it still has that infectious mix of nice lyrics and good melodies, but it all sounds too similar. If SfG want to progress from being a good band to a great band, they need to change their sound as bands such as Arctic Monkeys and The Killers have - and I really hope they can.

The whimsical indie pop group Scouting for Girls formed in 2005 in London, playfully modeling their name after the Scouting handbook (Scouting for Boys), published in the early years of the 20th century. Members Greg Churchouse, Peter Ellard, and Roy Stride signed with Epic Records in early 2007 and released their first single, "It's Not About You," that June. Soon after, the trio's self-titled debut reached the top slot on the U.K. album charts, thanks to the popularity of such singles as "She's...
